Insurance Canada Technology Award

To highlight and celebrate technologies that have a significant business impact, Insurance-Canada.ca awarded SMT with an honorable mention at the Insurance Canada Technology Awards – "the ICTAs."

The technology used by restoration companies is an automated monitoring and report generation system that allows water technicians to remotely monitor sites that experienced a water loss claim. In addition to having the ability to remotely monitor the system from an office computer or Smartphone, the system generates a concise report proving the drying process. This report offers a consistent reporting mechanism allowing Insurers to issue appropriate compensation.

Impact of Technology

Restoration companies have realized both financial and functional gains from using this technology. By allowing an automated system to record moisture, RH and temperature readings, a single water technician is now capable of handling multiple water loss sites simultaneously, commuting time to sites is reduced, particularly to rural areas as well as report compilation and generation is reduced. Besides the increased productivity, the accuracy and reliability of the entire process is significantly enhanced with the use of this technology.
