SMT Research collaborated with high-achieving builders, architects, engineers, fabricators, and interior designers to construct the New Jubilee House located on Richards Street. The purpose of this new building is to replace the Old Jubilee House across the street, which was scheduled for demolition. With a new 12-story building in place, the 162 new affordable housing units for low-income residents and seniors can be utilized. SMT Involved with Minoru Park Expansion

In 2015, SMT Research took part in the construction of Kiwanis Minoru Park Tower located in the Brighouse Village neighborhood in Richmond. The tower is a 16-story building consisting of 296 one bedroom apartments for Senior living. SMT Research was primarily responsible for scanning the plaza deck of low income housing and condominiums. SMT Project Updates: SOLO District and The Amazing Brentwood

SMT is currently involved with two of the biggest developments in the Burnaby and Metro Vancouver area: The SOLO District and The Amazing Brentwood. With both developments being major zoning projects in the area, we are excited to see the final projects after completion! SMT Creates Data Visualization Interface for UBC Tall Wood Building

SMT has been working on a special project for the sensor installation of the UBC Brock Commons Tall Wood Building. In order to monitor vertical movement, SMT installed sensors to determine wood compression and settling, as well as moisture performance in the prefabricated cross laminated timber panels (CLT). For this, point moisture measurement, temperature, and displacement sensors were installed in each panel during construction. In conjunction with FPInnovations in 2015, SMT solutions were installed in two test hut demonstration buildings to monitor the performance of multi-functional wood panels. With increasingly strict environmental and energy specific standards, the panels were created to achieve both energy efficiency and resilient structural performance standards, all while being a lower-cost option for future building construction. On this project, two identical demonstration buildings were made for monitoring and demonstration in Vancouver and Edmonton.
