2022; another year in review!

Every year SMT gets busier and busier; 2022 was no different. This year as COVID-19 restrictions began to loosen in Canada and abroad, we got to (finally) come out of our offices and meet with people in person once again.

We had the opportunity to attend and exhibit at some trade shows, starting with Vancouver BuildEx last spring. This was our first time attending an in person event since the pandemic began, and it was also Caitlin's first time attending an in person event. She was able to formally introduce herself as the new Communications leader to existing clients and made some new connections as well. It was a great first show for her as she walked away with many clever marketing ideas, like this fun Star Wars photo booth!

A month after BuildEx, SMT exhibited for the first time in over two years at the CitiesAlive - Green Roofs for Healthy Cities show. It was Graeme and Caitlin's first time exhibiting at a show, and Jason also was able to present for the conference! Team ginger did well with making new connections, showing off SMT's most recent projects and talking all things leak detection. Jason had the attention of the room and talked all about the risk of moisture intrusion on a building with a green roof.

Come the fall, Jason and Caitlin attended the Western Roofing Expo in Las Vegas Nevada, marking the first time SMT has travelled abroad to a trade show in far too long! This was a large show with many vendors and opportunities to make connections. We got to chat with many different companies, and Jason even got to try the best steakhouse in America!

After Vegas, SMT exhibited at the Canadian Conference on Building Science Technology and at the IIBEC Building Enclosure Symposium. We wrote another blog post just about this which you can find here

Last but certainly not least, SMT exhibited at the BCBEC conference. This conference is always a unique one for SMT as Jason spent many years on the board of BCBEC and served time as the president. This one was a lot of catching up with clients in the Vancouver area, and making connections with those who travelled in. It was great to end the year with a show in Vancouver like how we started the year!

Of course, outside of all these shows SMT didn't stop installing. Check out our most recent project profiles from the last year; Oakridge, The Post, Burquitlam Redevelopment, and Richmond City Hall. SMT hopes that everyone had a wonderful 2022, and we're very excited to see what 2023 has in store for us! As always, thank you for reading our blog and following our updates. We'll continue to post throughout the new year and we have some exciting things in store! Stay tuned.
