Working Foreman / Project Manager

Job Summary:


We are currently seeking a motivated and capable individual for a unique role that combines Hands-on Foreman and Project Management with strong hands-on fieldwork experience. This position is ideal for someone who not only understands how to manage job sites and teams but is also comfortable working with tools and supporting technical field operations directly.


Key Aspects of the Role:


We are seeking an experienced and motivated Working Foreman/ Project Manager to lead our sensor system installation projects in Minneapolis area. This role is responsible for the successful planning, execution, supervision, and completion of projects, ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, capable of managing a team of field technicians, interfacing with clients, and actively participating in field installations and troubleshooting when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:


Field Technician Responsibilities:


  • Travel to client sites to perform installations, maintenance, and repairs of sensor system components (cables, enclosures, sensors, etc.).

  • Perform non-destructive testing practices and project site data collections.

  • Maintain detailed photo and videographic records of site conditions and work performed.

  • Create comprehensive field reports with site photos and coherent, detailed descriptions using provided templates.


Project Planning & Management:


  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation for sensor system installations.

  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, and internal teams to define project requirements and deliverables.

  • Track project progress, identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure all project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and daily logs, is accurately maintained.


Team Leadership & Supervision:


  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of field technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.

  • Assign daily tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring efficient workflow.

  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment focused on safety and quality.


Field Operations & Quality Control:


  • Oversee and ensure the quality installation, service, and maintenance of sensor system components (cables, enclosures, sensors, etc.).

  • Actively participate in and lead complex installations, troubleshooting, and non-destructive testing practices as a "working foreman."

  • Manage project site data collection processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Oversee and approve photo/videographic record keeping for project milestones and compliance.


Reporting & Communication:


  • Prepare and review comprehensive field reports, project status updates, and completion reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on-site, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.

  • Effectively communicate project updates, challenges, and requirements to senior management.


Safety & Compliance:


  • Champion and enforce all company safety protocols, COVID procedures, and work instructions on-site.

  • Ensure all team members are adequately trained and adhere to safety standards, including WHMIS and Fall Arrest.

  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and toolbox talks.


Logistics & Resource Management:


  • Coordinate the procurement and logistics of materials, tools, and equipment for projects.

  • Manage on-site inventory and ensure gear (up to ~50 lbs) is properly handled and maintained.


Technical Support:


  • Assist with basic production of electronics or system configuration in the office when field deployment schedules allow.


Performance Competencies:


  • Proven leadership and team management abilities, with experience supervising field teams.

  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.

  • Excellent mechanical, electrical, and analytical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Comprehensive technical writing skills for reports, proposals, and client communication.

  • Exceptional communication, client management, and interpersonal skills.

  • Highly self-motivated, responsible, punctual, and exceptionally organized.

  • Ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions (Wind, Rain, Snow, Sun) and navigate construction site hazards.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work under pressure.


Requirements:



Mandatory


  • Minimum [e.g., 3-5] years of experience in a supervisory role within the construction, electrical, or technology installation field.

  • Proven experience managing projects and leading field teams.

  • Strong understanding of construction principles, procedures, and site management.

  • Dexterity in handling wires, cables, and electronics, and a willingness to perform hands-on technical work.

  • Willingness to learn and master SMT (Sensor/System Monitoring Technologies) and related digital platforms.

  • A reliable cell phone with good camera quality for site photos, communication, and digital compliance submittals.

  • Valid WHMIS and Fall Arrest Certificates (or ability to obtain immediately).


Preferred:


  • Post-secondary education in a technical field (e.g., Engineering Technology, Construction Management) or equivalent trade qualification.

  • Strong understanding of Electrical, Plumbing, & Roofing installation methods.

  • Specializations in Carpentry, Pipefitting, PLC Integrations, Low Voltage Electrical systems.

  • Experience with project management software.

  • Having own reliable vehicle suitable for accessing various construction sites (mileage may be compensated).
