SMT Research (Structure Monitoring Technology) is a leader in electronic leak detection and building envelope monitoring. We bridge the gap between structural engineering and data science. By utilizing near real-time sensor analysis and remote data collection, we help Engineers, Architects, and Building Owners validate designs and materials.



Our mission is to build more efficient, durable buildings and reduce environmental impact by eliminating unnecessary roof repairs through high-tech quality assurance. We operate in Canada, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand.

  • Basic familiarity of Roofing, Electrical, or General Construction familiarity

  • Creativity: Ability to explain "Remote Data Collection" in a way that resonates with building owners and researchers.

  • Curiosity to learn more

Pay: $21.00 per hour Work Location: Vancouver, BC Work conditions: in-person, full-time, Mon-Fri, casual dress Contract Length: 3 months (June-August)

Mandatory Eligibility (ICTC WIL Digital Requirement)

To be eligible for this subsidized position, applicants must meet the following federal criteria:


  1. Status: Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

  2. Legal: Have a valid SIN and be legally entitled to work in BC.

  3. Exclusion: International students are not eligible for this specific funded placement (this includes those on study permits, visitor visas, or youth/work visas).
